Would you alter or discontinue pregabalin treatment for this patient?
Pregabalin is indicated for the treatment of fibromyalgia and has demonstrated
efficacy in randomized clinical trials. 3,4 However, the dose used to treat
fibromyalgia is typically much higher than what is currently prescribed for
Emily. Though the recommended starting dose for pregabalin is 150 mg/day, the
dose can be titrated to 300-450 mg/day for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Since
Emily complains of "pain all over," the clinician should consider increasing
the dose of pregabalin.
What other changes would you consider for this patient?
